Vibratory bowl feeders
have become integral to a number of automation feeding processes across various
industries. As any machine, even bowl feeders are susceptible to certain
working issues or operational glitches. There are certain simple ways in which
you can troubleshoot a vibratory bowl feeder.
Know
the Cause behind the Malfunctioning of the Bowl Feeder:
There is more than one
plausible reason behind the malfunctioning of a bowl feeder. You will need to
switch off the system and inspect it thoroughly to find out the root cause of
the operational glitch. It can be because of the following reasons:
- Loose electrical connection
- Overloaded or blocked vibratory tray
- Improperly mounted base plate
- Improperly set coil gap
- Hardening of the rubber feet
- Unclean feed trays, base plates, or bowl feeders
- Blocked supply hoppers
Once you identify the cause behind the operational
issue of the vibratory bowl feeder, you need to take the necessary steps to
rectify the problem.
Ways
to troubleshoot a malfunctioning vibratory bowl feeder:
Here are some ways that will help you in rectifying
the functional issue in your bowl feeder:
- Clean the bowl feeder of all the dust and residual dirt. Also, remove any settled dust from the feeding trays and base plates;
- In case of loose electrical connections, make sure that you repair the connection or any broken switch and then plug-in the bowl feeder;
- Arrange the gap between 0,030″ to 0,060″ (for AC current) and between 0,060″ and 0,100″ (for DC current) for the coil;
- In case of disturbed arrangement of the coil of bowl feeder, arrange it back in such a way that it is parallel to the striker plate;
- Make sure that the base plate of the bowl feeder is mounted properly to avoid reduced number of vibrations;
- Replace the hardened rubber feet to enhance the feeding rate.
All these methods are helpful in successfully
troubleshooting the vibratory bowl feeder. However, if the damage to your
machine is severe, then you must seek the help of an expert for repair.
